It was in Barcelona, in 1967, that Luis Monreal, curator of the Frederic Marès Museum, first conceived the idea of a nonprofit international organization that would gather the existing societies of Friends of Museums around the world.

Annual Meetings 

The World Federation of Friends of Museums hosts annual meetings. The annual meetings are held in a different country each year. The 2019 meeting will be held in Montreal, Canada. Learn more. -->  


World Congress    

Every three years World Federation members convene to hear leaders in the international museum world discuss recent developments. At this time members have the opportunity to exchange ideas with FRIENDS from around the world and to experience the culture of the host country. Learn More -->
